About

Hi!  My name is Murielle and welcome to my blog.  I've wanted to do a blog like this for ages, a place where I could indulge in my  passion for everything to do with the reign of Louis XVI and the early years of the Revolution.
My facination with the era is quite recent but became all encompassing when I learned more about the drama of the days of the Reign of Terror, the elegance of the royal court, and the genius of the architects, painters, and craftspeople of this time in history.  In this blog I will be covering both sides of an immerging change in society.  The Royals, those priviliged few, who rode on the backs of the rising middle class and the working poor.  They were petty and vain but provided us with their taste in art and architecture that still survives even when their original owners fled to other countries or met their end at the guillotine.
The Revolutionaries, the idealists who changed history forever.  They saw injustice and tried to correct it as best they could, trying to build a utopian society that then turned into a blood bath with the Reign of Terror.  They were the enlightened ones who brought us into the society that we recognize today.
It will be an ongoing project that will take some time as I have other projects going but as progresses and I read more into the lives and times of these people I will post as I go along.  I hope you enjoy.
